Brad Holahan and his paintingBrad Holahan has been painting in oil since the age of 14. Twenty-four years later, at the age of 38, Brad's expressive style and colorful brushwork are easily recognizable as his own. Having grown up along the Southern California coastline, Brad has spent much of his life within "an arm's length," of the beach. Surfing for over half of his life and in constant proximity to the shoreline, helped Brad to develop a unique style that explores the scenery and "cultures," for those who love the ocean.

Brad's education is a mix of formal technical and applied art, blended with years of painting through self-education and experimentation. Brad received a Bachelor of Science from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, with a concentration in Applied Art and Design (Graphic Design). Having always pursued creative educational endeavors; years of drawing courses, photography, painting, 2D- and 3D-design, his painting skills developed as his art education grew. Today, Brad's style is unified, recognizable and unique with post-impressionists such as Van Gogh and Gauguin as his art "heroes."

Brad Holahan with fresh AhiThe past few years have seen Brad's style and skills, strengthen and flourish. Traveling the beaches and coastlines of California and Hawai'i, Brad's primary focus is upon those environments and scenery that can only be found near the sea.

"I try to capture the energy, the experience, the emotion one might feel if they had spent that moment standing where I was, breathing, feeling, and seeing that place in time."
